Although Microfinance is often considered one of the most effective and flexible strategies in the fight against global poverty because it is sustainable and can be implemented on the massive scale necessary to respond to the urgent needs of those living on less than $1 a day, the World’s poorest.
Despite this fact and our strong desire, we have been unable to offer micro credits to the needy mainly due to financial constraints. However, we have made a significant contribution to poverty alleviation by imparting technical and/or IT education to hundreds of needy individuals on free or highly subsidized fees basis.
Most of these beneficiaries are the sole bread winners of large families and it’s comforting to note that with a little action from NCLSW a huge turn around in someone’s life can be brought. Given some time and resources NCLSW intends to take up poverty alleviation as a main theme.
