Literacy

It has been our belief at NCLSW that a literate society is in its own right an answer to most of the ills of the developing world. Some of our achievements in Literacy/Education sector are as follows:

  1. In Year 2007 – BEFA (Better Education for All) project was launched by NCL. Research, planning and survey is also being conducted under this project. Complete finished report will be provided to the Literacy Department, Government of Punjab under the heading ‘Literate Punjab Project for Need Basis’.
  2. In Year 2000 – Working in collaboration with the Government of Punjab, a three years Educational Package ‘Ujala’ was launched in 8 districts of Rawalpindi, reaching out to 26,000 girls through 250 Literacy Centers per six months cycle, also providing employment to 750 female teachers.
  3. In Year 2005 – A Workshop on capacity building for male & female teachers was conducted in Taj Hotel, Gujar Khan & Government High School Pind Dadan Khan.
  4. In Year 1998 to date – NCLSW Academy Taxila, Maulana Zafar Ali Rd, HIT Gate No. 5 was launched to impart free education from class I to class X.
  5. In Year 2006 – A batch of eight women students from Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi was given hands on training for 3 months on gender issues.
  6. Further programmes were arranged to provide quality education to students through up-gradation of 10 schools.
  7. Teacher Training Programmes and the Development of Teacher’s Training Manual for Non-Formal Schools was also taken as a step towards better educational facilities.
